Canotec is mixing business with pleasure by hosting open days combined with special World Cup screenings.

The digital copiers dealership is giving its 55 employees downtime to cheer on England’s progress through the tournament while inviting clients to stay on the ball with the latest document management technology at the company’s headquarters in Ringwood, near Southampton.

Managing director Steve Weir said: “Let’s face it, a lot of businesses will be suffering a sudden surge of absenteeism that oddly coincides with England’s qualifiers, so we think it’s better to let staff have the downtime on premises so they can mix business with pleasure. Staff who aren’t interested in the football will also be given the opportunity for equivalent downtime.”

The company, which has 1,200 clients across the South, including retail giants such as New Look and Animal, is also hosting the Canotec Fantasy World Cup, in which you can pick a team you think will either win or score the most points.

According to a YouGov survey, more than a third of fans say they are planning to miss work to watch England compete.

England take on the USA on Saturday, June 12, Algeria on Friday, June 18 and Slovenia on Wednesday, June 23.
