Canotec has been awarded a “significant” contract by Weymouth’s high street fashion giant New Look. The company is supplying 12 multi-function devices, with special software, such as eCopy, which reduces paper waste by scanning paper and sending it digitally across New Look’s IT network. The new fleet is being used by the company’s buying, merchandising, marketing and designs teams at the new headquarters in Mortimer Street, W1, in the heart of London’s fashion industry. David Newman, a director at Canotec, said: “We were asked to provide green technology that would dramatically reduce paper waste at New Look and rationalise printing-related costs. “We have a long-standing relationship with the client, supplying their Weymouth base for many years, and this latest roll-out means New Look can communicate designs, ideas and creativity, faster and more accurately whilst at the same time distributing key information electronically and seamlessly without the need to print paper.” Canotec, now in its 18th year, notched up record sales recently as companies reduce operational printing costs and carbon footprints during the recession. According to the company, document creation and printing typically accounts for 1-3% of revenue for businesses. One legal firm in the South saved £45,000 in a year, with a reduction in paper equivalent to 19 trees a month, cited Canotec.
