Orienteering club leaps ahead with Canotec sponsorship
An orienteering club in the South has a spring in its step after landing a sponsorship deal with Canotec. Wessex Orienteering Club, which has 100 members drawn from across East Dorset and West Hampshire, is now blazing a trail across the UK with 25 running shirts emblazoned with the Canotec brand. The kit was officially unveiled after this month’s (September) Dorset Coast Path relay race, which Wessex won in just over eight hours, covering 64 miles from Lyme Regis to Studland Bay. Amongst its 1,200 clients, ranging from FTSE companies to sole traders, Canotec supplies networked print management for Parkstone Grammar in Poole, where club stalwart Gavin Clegg is bursar. Gavin said: “We’re grateful to Canotec for the eye-catching tops, which will blaze a trail around the UK during weekend races.” Steve Weir, Canotec’s managing director, said: “We’re only too pleased to be helping Wessex – their sport resonates with what we our green IT business ethos, from team focus to pathfinding.” Canotec also sponsors other local teams - Ringwood FC, Oakmeadians RFC and Queens Park Athletic FC in Bournemouth and the under-13s rugby team at Ballard School in New Milton. Orienteering requires navigational skills using a map and a compass to navigate from point to point in usually unfamiliar terrain and at speed in all weathers. |
